Nurse Educator*

Mills-Peninsula Health Services, a not-for-profit corporation, operates two community health facilities with a total of 403 inpatient beds. Peninsula Medical Center in Burlingame is an acute care hospital. Mills Health Center in San Mateo provides a wide range of outpatient services, including surgery, rehabilitation and diagnostics.

Mills-Peninsula Health Services has deep roots in San Mateo County. Mills Hospital opened in 1908 and Peninsula Hospital opened its doors four miles north in Burlingame in 1954. The two merged in 1985 and affiliated with Sutter Health in 1996, becoming Mills-Peninsula Health Services. Mills-Peninsula is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.

The Nurse Educator is a Registered Nurse who provides and coordinates Nursing Department and other specific organization-wide educational activities which promote the competency and continuing development of staff.  The individual Educator is responsible for the key functions of Educational Services (orientation, competency validation, inservice and continuing education) for the assigned region.  In addition, each Educator actively participates as a member of the Educator team, utilizing the concepts of a self-directed team management model, sharing responsibility for project management and for planning, implementation evaluation and decision making as it relates to these key functions.
REQUIREMENTS
Current California RN License and BLS (AHA) Certification.  Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Masters degree in Nursing or related health care field required. Ph.D preferred. Five years of recent experience in an acute care hospital.  At least three years experience in teaching and developing educational programs with demonstrated knowledge of adult learning theory.  Must be able to communicate understandably both in verbal and written English.  Demonstrated initiative and ability to work under minimal supervision, strong organizational skills and the ability to work with diverse personalities at all levels of the organization.
