Under the leadership of the Director of Distance Education and Academic Technology, the facilitator’s role is to oversee the faculty technology center and create and coordinate activities such as workshops, events and training. The incumbent assists the Director in the creation and implementation of the process for technology-related course development activities. The facilitator takes an active role in instructional quality assurance, coordination of media production work, and hands-on client support of instructional projects. Emphasis is on enhancing student learning through the use of instructional technologies and design and involves teaching, training, and one-on-one support. The incumbent serves as a leader, coach, and consultant to faculty using technology to enhance teaching and learning in online, hybrid, and web-enhanced courses.
Terms of Employment
100 percent, 230 day assignment. Continuation of the position is dependent on the funding that supports the position. Recently hired faculty are expected to participate in a new faculty orientation program.
Salary and Benefits
Faculty Salary Range for 2006/2007 Salary Range: $45,717 to $78,989/yr.The college also provides an excellent benefits package, which includes medical, dental, and vision coverage (subject to employee and college collective bargaining agreements). Benefits also include: life, and disability insurance and membership in the Public Employee Retirement System (PERS) or Oregon Public Services Retirement Plan (OPSRP).Essential Functions
•Assist faculty and staff with developing online courses and incorporating technology into teaching•Consult with faculty regarding instructional design and effective teaching strategies for using technology to enhance student learning
•Research and develop online teaching resources including online teaching principles, best practices, facilitation, active learning, assessment, and community building
•Develop and deliver programs, training, workshops and institutes on teaching with technology and software applications.
•Coordinate projects as needed
•Serve as liaison with faculty, college departments and statewide groups and committees
•Work collaboratively with department staff and faculty including multimedia specialists, technical, and administrative staff to meet departmental goals
•Embraces technology tools to accomplish job functions; understands and utilizes available technology as communication and data gathering tools and integrates technology into curriculum and classroom presentations
•Understands, develops, and provides a learning environment that supports diversity and incorporates a sensitivity to diversity into the workplace
•Functions as a life-long learner

REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. Minimum of two years direct experience supporting instructors using web-based technology for instruction. Minimum of one year experience teaching adults or one year experience developing and facilitating trainings. Strong technical skills in a variety of multimedia and web applications including: HTML, CSS, various HTML editors, Macromedia Studio, Adobe Photoshop, WebCT, Blackboard, or other LMS, audio and video recording, editing and capturing tools. Experience managing or coordinating complex projects.Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree preferably in Education, Instructional Technology or related discipline. Three years teaching or training experience adult learners. Online teaching experience. Experience coordination online course development efforts including activities such as orientations, course development, recommending ad adopting publisher resources, training, course reviews, project management and consultation.
