The University of Massachusetts Amherst seeks candidates for the position of Head Reserves/Media Department. Under general supervision of the Associate Director for User Services, supervise personnel and manage activities and services in the Reserves/Media Department of the University Library. Maintain reserves and media services that support the curriculum.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree in library sciences from an American Library Association-accredited library and information studies program.
Minimum of two years of professional library experience in an academic or research library.
Successful supervisory, management and leadership skills with a commitment to mentoring, training, and staff development.
Familiarity with software applications and systems used in academic libraries. Knowledge of emerging technologies and their use in reserves and media operations.
Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate clearly in presentations.
Ability to organize work, develop effective work processes, assess work priorities, and work independently.
Strong commitment to public service and proven ability to work effectively with a diverse and multicultural population of faculty, staff, students, and community members.
Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships and deal with the public graciously.
Ability to deal with ambiguity, change, and innovation.
Desirable qualifications include an additional degree in a subject area, knowledge of at least one modern European language; and a record of service to the profession.
Ability to work a schedule, which includes evening, weekend and holiday hours.
