IV Coordinator/Educator

1.Provide VP of Nursing Services with periodic status report of all aspects of nursing responsibilities to the customer.
2.Maintain effective communication with all department managers and deliver all pertinent information relative to comments and results that affect our customers.
3.Meets periodically with VP of Nursing and Director of Infusion Services to evaluate quality of effectiveness of pharmacy services.
4.Insure all information provided to facilities is tailored to meet their needs.
5.Address problems presented by facility in timely manner, communicate to appropriate department managers and follow up with action for resolution.
6.Coordinate transition of all new IV facilities and conduct transition inservice(s).
7.Assist consultant pharmacists with education and problem solving in the facilities related to IV’s.
8.Assist in the orientation and training program for all IV nursing personnel in accordance with our state accepted IV policies and procedures.
9.Develop and maintain a good working rapport with inter department personnel, other departments within the organization, as well as to outside contacts to assure that nursing can be properly maintained.
10.Ensure that schedules are followed as outlined for respective shift/area.
11.Devote such time, energy, and skill necessary to maintain accurate nursing procedures.
12.Follow established policies and procedures set forth by the IV manual(s).
13.Attend and participate in workshops, seminars, etc., as necessary.
14.Other related duties and responsibilities that may become necessary or appropriate to meet the administrative need of the organization.
15.Maintain CONFIDENTIALITY of all pertinent resident care information to assure resident rights are protected. This will be conveyed to all IV nursing personnel.
16.Assist with education of IV on-call team.
17.Assist with researching and obtaining supplies for I.V. Department.
18.Maintain good communication with all staff and inform them of any changes internal and external.
19.Assist in the updating of the policy and procedure manual(s) relative to I.V. Therapy.
20.Market Value Health Care Services, Inc. as a full service institutional pharmacy.
21.Schedule and conduct Line Management and Pain Management classes to meet the needs of the facilities.
22.Assist VP of Nursing Services and Director of Infusion Therapy in the development of cost containment programs that will continue to insure optimum resident results.
23.Performs quality assurance on all nursing visits and IV classes.
24.Assist VP of Nursing Services to establish on IV video library for facility use.
25.Education of facility staff regarding pharmacy ordering procedures, equipment and e-box usage & replacement.
26.Assist facilities with updating IV protocol and formulating facility policy and procedures
REQUIREMENTS
A.Must possess as a minimum, a high school diploma or equivalent.
B.Registered nurse in the State of Connecticut.
C.IV venipuncture certification
D.Recent venipuncture experience (within 1 year).
E.Good communication with the State of Connecticut, Department of Health
F.Knowledge of standards of practice for IV therapy according to the State of Connecticut
G.Individual must be detail oriented with the ability to follow through on all aspects.
H.Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such actions and be an effective problem solver.
I.Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm
J.Knowledge with all State, Federal and JACHO regulations
K.Good communication and teaching skills with supervisory and/or management experience
L.Physical and Sensory Requirements (with or without the aid of mechanical devices).

1.Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
2.Must be able to speak and write the English language in a understandable manner.
3.Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
4.Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
5.Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with other personnel.
6.Must be in good health and demonstrate emotional stability.
7.May be required to lift, push, pull, and move office equipment, supplies, etc., in excess of (30) pounds.

M.Specific Requirements

1.Must be a minimum of 21 years of age and of good moral character.
2.Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action and to remain calm during emergency situations.
3.Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, visitors, and the general public.
4.Must be knowledgeable of administrative practices, procedures, and guidelines.
5.Must maintain standards of conduct and appearance to represent Value Health Care Services, Inc. in a professional and courteous manner at all times.
6.Must possess a cheerful personality and be able to work harmoniously with other personnel.
7.Must possess the ability to minimize waste or supplies, misuse of equipment etc.
8.Must be able to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
