PRIMARY PURPOSE: The Executive Dean of Business and Technology has the authority and responsibility for leadership in the development and implementation in the areas of Business and Technology.
The Executive Dean is responsible for relating divisional program components to the college wide strategic planning priorities and serve as an advocate for the division. This position is directly responsible to the Vice President for Learning & Student Support Services.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
In conjunction with the Department Chairs, the Executive Dean is charged to carry out the following responsibilities:

Digital MediaTo provide leadership and guidance as follows:
Facilitate and support planning and implementation of divisional activities in support of the college-wide strategic plan.Provide leadership, supervision and evaluation of the divisional team (Executive Dean, Dean, Department Chairs, Faculty, Administrative Assistant and Clerical).Assign authority and responsibility to the Dean, Department Chairs and Administrative Assistant.Provide leadership for enrollment management as it relates to the division.Initiate and/or support new divisional initiatives especially as they integrate with strategic planning and enrollment management.Direct the development and administration of the annual divisional budget and monitor budgets once approved.Structure and review intra and inter divisional communications.
Establish, redefine and strengthen the internal and external articulation of curriculum and service delivery.
Work with divisional faculty and staff, and human resources to initiate division specific staff development activities.
Formulate divisional personnel recommendations to the Vice President for Learning & Student Support Services.
Act as the primary liaison to ICCB, IBHE, ISBE, other agencies, organizations and institutions relative to the division’s programs.
To work in collaboration with the other departments of the College to develop programming.Support and participate in the College’s commitment to continuous improvement and the AQIP process of accreditation through appropriate participation in Action Team activities.Assume other duties as requested by the Vice President for Learning & Student Support Services.
REQUIREMENTS
Executive Dean of Business and Technology
Education/Experience:
Master’s Degree in one of the division’s disciplines or Education required; Doctorate preferred.
Three years college level teaching experience, community college preferred.
Experience in assessment of student learning.
Minimum three years administrative experience.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Proficient in Word, Excel, and Internet.
Ability to work effectively with faculty, students, and staff.
Strategic planning ability and experience.
Ability to develop and monitor budgets.
Ability to work with Department Chairs to develop goals and objectives.
Ability to problem solve.
Strong communication skills.
Commitment to the philosophy and the mission of the community college.
