In partnership with organizations such as the Discovery Channel and the Smithsonian Institution, Voyager provides proven and powerful curricula to America's classrooms.POSITION PURPOSE: Maintain consistency and accuracy in editing educational curricula according to Voyager Style Guide and The Chicago Manual of Style; help editors deliver quality products on time.
Position is located in Dallas, Texas (no relocation assistance associated with position).ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1) Use Voyager Style Guide and The Chicago Manual of Style to edit educational curricula and materials for kindergarten through eighth grades; collaborate with Marketing, Training, and other departments to maintain consistent style (i.e. copyright, logos, titles) in published materials
2) Work with Editorial and Design and Production departments to establish product-specific styles and identify appropriate changes to be made during page production, balancing cost-effectiveness, quality control, and deadline issues
3) Participate in the development of editorial processes, project workflows, and schedules; monitor designated copyediting stages of the schedule
4) Participate in launch meetings for all products; develop checklists for copyediting during page production
5) Participate in weekly status meetings to track progress as well as to identify issues and solve potential problems
6) Create and disseminate product-specific style sheets to contract copyediting staff and maintain ongoing communication with contractors to provide quality control of products in development7) Prepare reprint corrections for printing, working with Manufacturing and Design and Production departments to deliver corrected, up-to-date copy files within scheduled timeframes
REQUIREMENTS
Required Skills and Abilities (including Education and Experience):
1) Bachelor's degree in English or Journalism required
2) Minimum of 3 years copyediting experience in publishing
3) Proficient in Microsoft Office software and Adobe
4) Preferred background experience in education
