Early Head Start Teacher

Position Purpose
Provide services and implement daily program activities for the care, development, and instruction of a child development program. Responsible for the educational, intellectual, social, physical and emotional development of each child in a classroom in accordance with the creative curriculum, Early Head Start policy and philosophy.

Essential Functions
1.Facilitate and supports the cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development of each child through positive interactions.
2.Provides activities and opportunities that encourage curiosity, exploration, an appropriate to the development levels and learning styles of the children.
3.Encourages the family’s involvement in the program and supports the child’s relationship with the family.
4.Encourages the family’s involvement in the program and supports the child’s relationship with the family.
5.Establish and maintain a safe and healthy classroom environment.
6.Maintain on-going records for each child in your classroom.
7.Demonstrate effective communication between staff, children, and families.
8.Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations and grant requirements.
9.Follow Head Start Performance Standards, DPW, Keystone Stars guidelines and procedures.
10.Attend all necessary trainings and staff meetings.
11.Demonstrate an assertive effort to recruit and enroll families that qualify for the Early Head Start.

•Ability to sit, squat, climb, and actively participate in activities related to the children (ages 0-3).
•Must occasionally lift and/or move children up to 50 pounds.

•Ability to respond quickly and calmly in emergencies.
•Ability and willingness to report any signs of abuse and neglect, illness or accidents.
•Ability and willingness to raise “in-kind” dollars.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum requirement is Infant/Toddler Child Development Associate (CDA), Preferred Degree in Early Childhood Education (either Associates or Bachelors Degree) and at least 3-5 years experience in an early childhood setting
