Director of Surgery Center

The Riverview Surgery Center is seeking a Director of Surgical Services. The Surgery Center, attached to Riverview Hospital, is comprised of a 19 bed pre-operative surgery unit, eight operating rooms and a post-anesthesia care unit. The types of surgeries performed at Riverview Surgery Center include general, OB/GYN, orthopedics, cardiovascular (including open-heart), neurosurgical, urologic, ophthalmic and plastics. In addition, Riverview Hospital has created a unique Blood Conservation Program.
The Director has 24 hour accountability for the Surgery Center, and will plan, direct, and facilitate the administrative and operational activities including interdepartmental problem solving. Is accountable for regulatory compliance and makes decisions based on independent judgment, appropriate analysis/response to problems involving patient care services, area management, and personnel supervision.
The Director must have thorough knowledge of departmental and global organizational operations including current medical practice, nursing theory, disease management, and legal aspects pertaining to nursing care. Must be skilled in identifying and implementing best practice for Surgical Services, using financial and clinical data analysis and benchmarking. Must demonstrate effective problem-solving, negotiation, and decision making skills. Demonstrated experience in determining fiscal requirements and preparing budgetary recommendations and the reconciliation of expenditures. Demonstrated success in effective interpersonal skills with other disciplines and physicians. Must have the ability to manage multiple projects at various stages of development. Must be skilled in performance improvement and process redesign. Must have effective communication, management, and leadership skills including demonstrated ability to build and sustain a multidisciplinary team.
REQUIREMENTS
5-10 years of progressive management experience in an acute care setting is required. 3-5 years of clinical experience in surgical services is necessary along with current Indiana Registered Nurse licensure. OR certification and Master’s degree are highly desired or must be enrolled in a master’s program within one year of employment.
Physicians with current surgical experience will also be considered.
