Director of Programs and Curriculum

Princeton University is a vibrant community of scholarship and learning that stands in the nation's service and in the service of all nations. Chartered in 1746, and known as the College of New Jersey until 1896, it was British North America's fourth college.Position Summary: The Princeton-Blairstown Center (PBC) is seeking an experienced leader in the design and delivery of effective programs for youth development, especially urban youth whose lives are impacted by socio-economic factors that challenge their ability to reach their full potential. This is a multi-faceted, challenging job that offers a wonderful opportunity to make a difference in the lives of deserving young people, and to impact an organization with a long and rich history. The three primary responsibilities of the position are: 1.Writing curriculum and designing adventure and service learning programs that empower urban youth to experience hope and develop life skills; 2.Creating and leading a comprehensive professional development plan for PBC program staff to keep them up to date on urban youth issues and preparing them for the implementation of cutting edge curriculum; 3.Overseeing the delivery of PBC programs, both at our Blairstown site in northwestern New Jersey, and in the urban centers of New Jersey, Philadelphia and New York City. Although the position will be located at our administrative office on the Princeton University campus, and will involve interaction with Princeton faculty, staff and students, frequent travel throughout the region is required. Regular visits to our Blairstown center, which is located 70 miles from Princeton, are critical, as are on-site connections at the urban schools and youth-serving agencies with whom we work. The new Director must be comfortable in a camp setting, in the wilderness environment, on a university campus and in the neighborhoods and community centers of Newark, Trenton, and Camden, NJ. Each candidate must submit a sample curriculum or program design for experiential education, adventure activities or service learning with the application.Job Function: Administrative or ProfessionalGrade: ADM 060Standard Hours: 36.25Eligible for Overtime: NoJob Requirements

Experience managing several projects simultaneously, monitoring the impact on people as well as accomplishing organizational objectives; 6. Creativity, an entrepreneurial spirit, and enthusiasm for exploring new program models and approaches; 7. Strong communication skills, written and verbal.Education Required: Bachelor's Degree
