Chartered in 1746, and known as the College of New Jersey until 1896, it was British North America's fourth college.Position Summary: Princeton University seeks a highly motivated, well-qualified individual to serve as the Director of Grants and Contracts in the Office of Research and Project Administration (ORPA). Reporting to the Director of ORPA, the Director of Grants and Contracts will lead a team of professionals responsible for pre-and post award administration of sponsored research funding at Princeton, including review, approval and submission of sponsored research proposals to sponsors (particularly through electronic proposals systems like Grants.gov); negotiations and acceptance of awards on behalf of the Trustees of Princeton University; and management and closeout of awards under University and sponsor's policy. The Director will collaborate with faculty and staff, senior administration and outside funding agencies to establish grant and contract procedures and systems to manage campus research administration.Job Function: Administrative or ProfessionalGrade: ADM 080Standard Hours: 36.25Eligible for Overtime: NoJob Requirements
Essential Qualifications: A minimum of 5 years' experience working in a research environment in higher education or a related non-profit field. Solid understanding of research administration topics and government requirements, including OMB Circular A-21, OMB Circular A-110 and OMB Circular A-133. Operational expertise and strategic capacity to envision opportunities to maximize systems that will enhance and facilitate Princeton's research goals. Experience and ability to develop and implement polices and procedures. Demonstrated ability to manage staff. Excellent organizational skills, ability to plan, and schedule multiple projects. Ability to take initiative and identify, prioritize and plan activities necessary to meet department goals. Must be results and goal-oriented. Ability to think in a strategic and holistic manner. Resourceful, creative - an out of the box thinker. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills High level of competency with systems applications. Excellent writing skills and attention to detail. Ability to innovate and problem solve. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with a variety of people at all levels. High degree of personal integrity and ethics with uncompromising standards. Flexibility, tactfulness, and diplomacy Proven ability to form partnerships with faculty to accomplish research objectives.
