Director of Education and Training
For over 50 years, Junior Blind of America has been providing programs and services to blind and visually impaired individuals and their families. Our programs are designed to help our students develop and build their highest level of independence and self-esteem.
We are currently seeking a Director of Education and Training to provide visual impairment services to students and to train staff as needed with an emphasis on mandatory safety certification training including CPR, First Aid, Water Safety and Pro-ACT.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
•Works with the Program Directors of SES and IFP to provide all necessary VI services as stipulated by student IEP and IFSP respectively. Works with Program Directors to address all VI assessments and needs.
•Provides consultative VI services for individuals being served by organizations contracted with Junior Blind for VI support and maintains all required documentation accurately and timely.
•Assists in the planning, developing, organizing, and implementation of training to the CRP, SES, DPI, STEP, IFP and REC programs.
•Tracks and maintains the minimum requirement of training hours as regulated by the various Regional Centers, other placement agencies, Department of Social Services, and school districts.
•Researches and creates training modules that meet the various regulatory requirements with regard to information provided and maintains a library of the modules to be used by directors, supervisors, coordinators, and teachers as training curriculum.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications:
•Visual Impairment Credential required, Masters level from an accredited college or university preferred. Masters Degree in Social Sciences, Child Development, Social Work, Psychology or BA with equivalent experience may be considered.
•Three years experience working within the field of Visual Impairment and/or Special Education.
•Three years experience working in a supervisory capacity in a residential facility with training and experience working with the disabled population.
•Knowledge of school district, regional center, and residential facilities practices and procedures as well as laws, regulations and guidelines preferred.
