Would you thrive on the challenge of a newly created position to implement change that will have a direct impact on improving the students' educational experience? As the first Houston District Director of Academic Operations, you will be tasked with enhancing curriculum and instructor performance for the 5 campuses in the Houston District. Using your excellent change management and organizational skills, you will develop processes that will deliver a quality educational experience to our 2500 students. Some travel is required.
As the Director of Academic Operations, you will direct, coordinate and provide professional growth activities and training for campus educational staff and management; assist in campus departmental organization; staffing; training of faculty and staff; evaluating education programs and staff and student performance; and generating reports. One of your first assignments will be to manage the change associated with installing revised curricula in the Medical Assistant and Dental Assistant programs.
The Houston District Director of Academic Operations reports directly to the Regional Vice President of Operations with dotted-line reporting responsibilities to the Central Group Director of Education and the Senior Vice-President of Academic Affairs for Kaplan Higher Education. You will have an additional matrix relationship with the Executive Directors, as well as the Directors and Assistant Director of Education at each campus.

What you will do:
Monitor, assess, and audit campus completion rates based on Texas Workforce Commission, Kaplan Higher Education and accreditation standards
Oversee and participate in all recruitment, interview, hiring and training activities for all campus education management staff
Ensure campus education departments' are incompliance with Texas Workforce Commission, accreditation, and KHE criteria, regulations, and policies
Conduct, monitor and document ongoing individual and campus education department training activities to ensure expected performance and growth standards
Continuously evaluate programs of study to ensure they meet or exceed current market and employer demands; continuously assess the viability and retention of under-performing programs
Ensure the adherence to company-approved programs, program and course objectives, and curriculum materials for the Houston District campuses
Monitor and evaluate instructional performance methodology, instructional materials, and textbooks to ensure achievement of educational objectives at the all campuses
Conduct professional growth and personal development activities for all campus education department management personnel; participate in local campus training activities for instructional staff
Support all campus Executive Directors and/ or Presidents in performance evaluations of local campus education department management personnel
Direct, oversee implementation, and monitor the student retention plans, programs and activities at all campuses to meet/exceed or exceed the annual student retention and attendance goals of the campuses
Work with the Houston District Registrar and the campus administration to insure effective and efficient scheduling of courses, students, faculty and facilities
Complete and submit all required reports in a timely manner
Skills and experience you will need:
A Masters degree in an appropriate field; a Doctorate in Education is preferred
3+ years of successful and documented teaching experience,
Successful documented experience in a management; supervisory-level position in academic department operations
Oversight of multiple campus education departments a PLUS
Excellent organizational skills, communication, interpersonal relationship and problem-solving skills
