Director, School of Nursing and Allied Health

Clarion University of Pennsylvania is currently inviting applications for the position of Director of Nursing and Allied Health. The School is located at the university’s Venango Campus in Oil City, which is located in Venango County in northwest Pennsylvania, and offers a growing array of programs throughout western Pennsylvania and web-based programs.

Recently reorganized to promote its continued growth, the School of Nursing and Allied Health is one of four academic units at Clarion University and has one of the largest nursing and allied health enrollments in Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education. The School offers associate, baccalaureate, and master’s degree programs, all of which are nationally accredited or in accreditation candidacy status.

The School offers the ASN, BSN, RN to MSN, and MSN with nurse practitioner and nursing education concentrations. It also offers a B.S. in radiologic science, an A.S. in allied health, and an A.S. in respiratory care, in partnership with regional hospitals.

Recently reorganized to promote its continued growth, the School is recognized as a leader in collaboration and distance education and has one of the largest nursing and allied health enrollments in Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education. Courses are offered at the Venango Campus, home site for the School, the Clarion Campus, at a site in Pittsburgh, and at other locations throughout Western Pennsylvania using a variety of live instruction and distance education modalities.

The Director provides broad leadership for the School, including the ongoing strategic planning process and the development of new programs to meet community, regional, state-wide, and national needs.

Clarion University?Venango Campus is the oldest regional campus in Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education. Students can begin any of Clarion University’s 90+ bachelor’s degrees at the Venango Campus, earn an associate degree in eleven areas of study, a bachelor’s or master’s degree in select areas, obtain a one-year certificate or participate in a variety of professional development and personal enrichment courses.

The Venango Campus is in an exciting period of development with the launch of new and innovative programs to meet the region’s needs and enrollment growth approaching 20% above that of last year, an all-time high. In the last four years, more than $5 million in private support has fueled the construction of three buildings of a proposed seven-building student apartment complex, the creation of a regional center for historical scholarship, the development of a regional leadership institute, and a number of endowed scholarships. A $2 million renovation and expansion of the student center at the Venango Campus was recently completed, in addition to other facility upgrades.
REQUIREMENTS
An earned doctorate is required, ABD with clear plans to finish degree considered, preferably in nursing, education, public health, or a related field, in addition to a masters in nursing. A minimum of five years of relevant experience, including teaching in undergraduate and/or graduate nursing programs, is required; higher education administrative experience is preferred.
