Director Of Teacher Education

Indiana Tech is seeking a Director of Teacher Education for a new K-6 Teacher Education Program which will provide an endorsement for Mild Intervention. The Teacher Education Director must be a creative, innovative, highly organized individual who will provide leadership for this new program in collaboration with the Dean of General Studies. The Program Director will oversee curriculum development, faculty hiring, and the daily operations of the Elementary Education program including but not limited to: admissions, ongoing program assessment, curriculum review, oversight of the state and NCATE program accreditation processes. Director responds to student and faculty concerns. Will develop and administer culminating and field experiences for teacher education candidates. Must communicate and collaborate with the Dean of General Studies in the development of general education requirements for the program. Represents Indiana Tech within the local education community and at professional organizations and associations.

REQUIREMENTS
We are seeking candidates who have a minimum of a Master’s Degree in Education, doctorate is preferred. Other requirements include:

•Minimum of five years of elementary education teaching experience and experience in teaching at the college/university level
•Familiarity with state elementary education licensing requirements
•Familiarity with state special education endorsement requirements
•Familiarity with reporting requirements for NCATE
•Demonstrated knowledge in the areas of teacher education and student advising
•Exemplary written and oral communication skills evidenced by a background
in preparing comprehensive reports
•A vision for education that takes into account national trends and issues
•A vision for education that supports active learning and critical reflection across diverse learning communities
