With annual enrollment of nearly 80,000 credit and noncredit students, the Community College of Allegheny (CCAC) is proud to be the largest provider of educational services in Western Pennsylvania. The college offers more than 170 programs including University Parallel, Applied Arts, Applied Services and Trades, Engineering and Science Technologies, career programs specializing in Business, Healthcare, and Social Services, and Transfer Programs.
CCAC is seeking candidates for the position of Dean of Academic Affairs who will be responsible for providing college-wide leadership, supervision and direction for the academic instructional programs including: program development, curriculum and articulation initiatives and assessment of student learning outcomes.
Job Specifications:
Master's Degree (Doctorate preferred) in education, teaching discipline, counseling/student services or related field; three (3) years college-level teaching or instructional management experience with 5-7 years of direct experience in business/industry. Ability to foster a cooperative work environment. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Knowledge of applicable legislation, standards, policies and procedures within specialty area. Knowledge of student support programs and services. Experience working with occupational programs and union apprenticeship programs strongly preferred.
Job Duties:
1. Engage in leadership activities which promote the academic direction of the Centers, Campus and College.
2. Review and coordinate instructional processes, i.e., portfolio reviews, program/discipline reviews, and outcome assessment processes.
3. Participate in Academic Strategic Planning.
4. Develop, manage, and assess programs so that they meet student and community needs, while maintaining academic integrity.
5. Assist in the promotion of academic programs.
6. Foster innovative curricula and instructional technology in cooperation with the faculty.
7. Monitor student enrollment trends in partnership with department heads to effectively coordinate course schedules, teaching schedules, program requirements, and classroom utilization.
8. Collaborate with department heads and other appropriate personnel to develop and administer the campus instructional operating and capital budgets.
9. Support faculty professional development and mentoring in the academic unit.
10. Administer the collective bargaining agreements.
11. Review and recommend candidates for full-time positions to the appropriate Vice President.
12. Establish and maintain program advisory boards.
13. Collaborate with appropriate offices to develop and up-date program specific articulation agreements.
14. Participate in accreditation processes as needed.
15. Collaboratively develop and implement Academic Affairs Policy.
16. Support the Academic Affairs Leadership Team.
17. Coordinate regularly scheduled Faculty Academic Affairs Meetings at campuses.
18. Supervise Senior Secretaries.
19. Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
