Performance Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Vice President of Instruction, the Dean of Technology is responsible for the following functions within the policies and procedures established by the Board of Trustees:
1. Coordinate of the development of the division's semester schedules utilizing staff resources and physical facilities to meet the emerging needs of the student population and program demands.
2. Provide instructional resources within the budget structure to meet specific program needs.
3. Develop and maintain division budget within the framework of the financial resources including audit tracking.
4. Coordinate division advisory committees and identify new programs in response to local community needs.
5. Provide leadership in the development of curriculum for technology programs.
6. Identify funding sources including grants, and supervise the preparation of clear and concise procedures for development, implementation, and monitoring of funding proposals for the division's programs and special projects.
7. Assist in development and coordination of staff development activities for the division staff.
8. Coordinate efforts between faculty and representatives of local high schools, regional occupational programs, and the local community to develop occupational opportunities, work experience sites, cooperative education programs, and 2+2 programs.
9. Assist in communication, promotion, and publicity of the division's programs.
10. Plan for technology program facility, staffing, and instructional needs, and integrate them into the college and district planning process.
11. Direct information gathering and preparation of reports related to the division's programs and oversee the preparation and maintenance of various records.
12. Supervise the division staff, maintaining the instructional standards of the college.
13. Liaison between the technology division and other instructional areas.
14. Conduct regular division and department meetings.
15. Perform additional duties assigned by the Vice President of Instruction.
Minimum Qualifications:
Faculty/Educational Administrators complete the Equivalency Application only if you do not meet the minimum qualifications for the position you are applying to, and you wish to be considered.
-Possession of a Master's degree from an accredited institution; and
-one year of formal training, internship, or leadership experience reasonably related to the administrative .assignment.
Desired Qualifications
1. Two years of management experience in higher education.
2. Two years of administrative experience as a Program and/or Instructor Coordinator, Instructional Unit Assistant, Assistant or Associate Dean or higher or the equivalent.
3. Three years of successful classroom teaching experience in a vocational/occupational program preferably at the community college level.
4. Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to give leadership to technology education programs.
5. Knowledge of and/or experience in one of the division's disciplines: Airline Travel Careers, Architectural Engineer, Architectural Technology, Aviation Pilot Training, Aviation Maintenance Technology, Construction Technology, Drafting Technology, Electronics Technology, Heating/Air Conditioning, Machine Technology, Technology, and Welding Technology.
6. Experience in program accreditation, licensing and external agency relations.
7. Ability to communicate effectively with college faculty, staff, students, and members of the community.
8. Ability to develop and implement grant programs and follow-up reporting.
9. Knowledge of vocational education funding sources and requirements.
10. Successful experience working with diverse student populations.
11. Ability to advocate for the division's programs.
12. Ability to reduce, resolve and prevent conflict among faculty, staff, and students.
Conditions of Employment
Contract, Full-Time, 12-month per year
Educational Administrator position.

Salary Range
The annual salary range for this position (Salary Range D-32) is $96,172 to $126,675, based on the 2006/2007 salary schedule, plus a monthly mileage allowance. In addition, a stipend of $2,526 is offered for possession of an earned Doctorate from an accredited institution.
Pay Philosophy
Starting salaries for support staff positions begin at Step-1 of the salary range. The first salary advancement is at the end of the 6-month probationary period. Further advancements are on an annual basis.
Starting salaries for management and supervisory positions are based on a combination of education, qualifications and experience. Initial placement is within the starting salary range. Further advancements are based on initial salary placement.
Starting salaries for academic positions are based on a combination of education and experience. Initial placement is within the starting salary range. Further advancements are based on longevity and professional development. An additional annual stipend is offered for possession of an earned doctorate from an accredited institution.

8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday - Friday
Benefits:
The District provides a comprehensive benefits program effective the first calendar day of the month following the first day of regular employment. A variety of medical plans covering employees and their dependents are available, with the District paying the major portion of the cost. In addition, the employees are offered fully paid Dental, Vision, Life, and Income Protection coverage. Available to eligible dependents are fully paid Dental and Vision coverage, with medical and Life coverage available at a nominal cost. Employees and their eligible dependents may participate in Optional Group Life Plans at their own expense. Other liberal benefits include, on an annual basis: 22 days of vacation; plus 2 administrative days during Spring recess; and 12 days of sick leave. Employees participate in State Teacher's Retirement System.
