We currently seek a full-time Director Education, Training & Development in the NU Center for Clinical Research. This position is located on our Chicago campus.
JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for the education, training and development sector of NCCR/OCRT, including overall programmatic, operations, fiscal and administrative issues. This position is charged with increasing the knowledge and skills of NU faculty and staff through the design, development, and delivery of effective education and training programs in the clinical research arena, as well as for external constituents as appropriate. This position is responsible for establishing relationships within the NU and external clinical research community to further programmatic goals and ensure appropriate strategic planning for the continued development of the sector, including marketing and promotional activities. This position must establish and maintain support to meet fiscal requirements of the program through fundraising, grant requests, and student registrations.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Providing overall direction and leadership for the education, training and development sector of NCCR
Overseeing annual budget of approximately 1 million in order to ensure fiscal goals are achieved
Serving as a resource to investigators, administrators and staff in support of education, training and development needs
Contributing to clinical research work groups and related professional development organizations on- and off-campus furthering the goals of NCCR clinical research education and training activities
Participating in strategy and policy development to further programming and professional development of clinical research professionals with the executive leadership and others across NU as requested
Managing the relationships between NCCR and any contractors, licensees or other training partners in conjunction with NCCR staff
Coordinating the development of all necessary legal, financial, and operational matters essential to initiation and maintenance of NCCR services with external partners
Managing a wide spectrum of courses and events, including large-scale CME/CE accredited events and customized training classes
Maintaining keen awareness of local and national regulations and requirements as relates to content and development of courses and events, as well as for contributions to clinical research work groups and other functions
Leading marketing and promotional activities to support initiatives and enhance NCCR's reputation as an education and training provider locally and nationally within the clinical research community
Developing fundraising database and associated infrastructure in order to solicit commitments (600+ K) from industry organization and public sector groups to fiscally support initiatives
Identifying and securing relationships with individuals, departments, institutions, and/or organizations on and off-campus with which NCCR can develop mutually beneficial programs to further education, training and/or other development needs and continue to grow network of contacts
Leading efforts to provide training for physicians through the conduct and financial support of CME accredited programs across therapeutic areas of interest
Liaising with physicians to craft seminars and submit grants
Managing a staff of 6 direct reports
Developing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) with the assistance of staff
REQUIREMENTS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A masters degree, or similar degree or equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable skills may be acquired
7-10 years experience in management of clinical research with demonstrated ability to supervise staff, or equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable skills may be acquired
Thorough knowledge of GCP and FDA regulations as pertains to clinical research
Clinical research professional certification (from ACRP, SRA, or similar) and/or other relevant training
Proven experience with event coordination and thorough knowledge of ACCME guidelines in support of CME activities
Proven experience developing and/or delivering courses and training programs
Development and/or fundraising experience within the private sector, NPOs, academia and/or government sources
Demonstrated attention to detail, leadership, management, and problem-solving skills
Computer proficiency
Excellent oral and written communication skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Active memberships within professional development organizations in the field of clinical research and/or education and training
Marketing background
Analytical skills
Financial management skills
