Job Category: Exempt StaffIs this position grant funded?: Institution-FundedMonths Per Year: 12Pay Rate: High $30's to low $40's per year or commensurate with qualificationsDepartment: ADEP-DuluthPurpose/Description: Purpose: To develop, organize and implement systematic student support services for Duluth ADEP students that enhance and support student needs and mission of the College. These services include student academic needs, alumni connections and outreach services.Responsibilities:
Academic:
Develop and implement a student support services program; assess needs of students who would use support services and structure those services to increase student retention and success.
Provide academic advising to all first term ADEP students that includes developing a system to track first term students (particularly those special status admits) to ensure their academic success and retention.
Under the supervision of the Director, develop a probation contract model/follow-up to academic action letters. Develop, recruit, train and schedule peer tutors as needed for specific courses or academic areas (e.g. writing, math).
Coordinate activities with honor society students to build a sense of community among the students with such activities that may include serving as mentors for entering students and conducting phone-a-thons to prospective students.
Assist Director with other academic duties as assigned.
Alumni Connections:
Develop an Alumni network to assist with on-campus activities and events to include information sessions, orientations, and contact with prospective students.
Assist students to develop web resumes, work with alumni to develop potential position openings for on-campus recruitment. Recruit current students for the Ascent Workshops.
Assist Director with other alumni connection duties as assigned.
Outreach Activities:
Assist with Prior Learning activities including monitoring completion of WebCT course and completion of the portfolio process.
Assist Corporate Sales/Recruiter with New Student Orientation activities every term.
Develop an internship process including utilizing established corporate contacts to assist with identifying internship sites and directing students to internship possibilities.
Assist Director with other outreach activities as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Required Qualifications: - Master's degree required.
Student Advocacy:

Adapt willingly and quickly to changing priorities, responsibilities, and students' needs and expectations; anticipate and identify student needs.

Collaborate well with colleagues to help make campus staff a cohesive group.
Communicate, cooperate and collaborate with all faculty, staff and colleagues to achieve common campus, division and college goals.
Communication:
Develop and maintain an effective, productive and respectful rapport and working relationship with students, faculty and co-workers on the Duluth campus and Extended campus sites, maintaining the appropriate level of professionalism.
Demonstrate strong interpersonal, public speaking and organizational skills, a sense of humor, flexibility, and creativity.
Demonstrate strong written, telephone, and electronic (e-mail and internet) communication skills and strengths in public speaking
Communicate information clearly and concisely and listen well to others
Take immediate and independent action when necessary assuming initiative for creative problem-solving.Preferred Qualifications: - Two years experience working with non-traditional adult learners in a college-setting preferred.
