Clinical Staff Educator

Department: Workforce Development/Clinical EducationSchedule: Full-timeShift: Day shiftHours: 7:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m.Job Details: Bachelor's degree from an accredited school of nursing is required. - Master's degree is preferred. - Current WY RN license is required. - Must set goals for Master's preparation in Nursing/Health Education within 5 years and complete 20 contact hours of approved continuing education per year. - BLS instructor certification preferred or willing to obtain within 6 months. ACLS instructor certification preferred. - 7 to 10 years in a hospital based nursing practice is preferred. Minimum of 2 years of recent formal and informal clinical and teaching experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified is required. - Must have a strong background in Education including familiarity with adult and child learning theories, curriculum development and various teaching methods.The Clinical Staff Educator, hereafter referred to as Educator, serves as a role model, consultant, change agent and facilitator in assessing learning needs and in planning, implementing, and evaluating clinical staff educational activities. The Educator will oversee basic orientation of new clinical staff, continued education and competency of current staff, and teach other classes as needed per evidenced based needs. The education staff will assist units in their provision of unit based education by assisting with the requirements for providing continuing education credits when and as appropriate in fulfilling UMC offered hours required by the UMC education policy. The educator will have a knowledge and understanding of learning theories and research and will utilize this knowledge in the planning of activities and classes to promote optimum learning. The Educator includes physicians, nurses and other clinical areas within UMC, community resources and others outside of UMC for the promotion of optimal healthcare understanding and information to the clinical staff of UMC. The Educator will participate in and lead in setting the standard for UMC to become a regional healthcare source, including professional education.
