BEHAVIOR INTERVENTION SPECIALISTS

Total Education Solutions (TES) is the leading national provider of outsourced special education compliance and staffing solutions to public education agencies. TES currently provides compliance and staffing solutions to over 200 public and charter school sites, representing 70 school districts and 35 Special Education Governing Entities.



Behavior specialists provide one-to-one support to the client in the school and/or home setting. The specialist is responsible for implementing behavioral strategies under the guidance of a case supervisor. The behavior specialist will teach the client skills using one or more specialized behavior approaches (Discrete Trial, Floor Time, Functional Communication Training, etc…). The specialist will assist the client to improve his/her: communication skills; social skills; play skills; motor skills; self-help skills; school readiness skills; and self-management skills



Currently, we are looking for Behavior Intervention Specialists in Sylmar, Reseda, Woodland Hills, Van Nuys, San Fernando, West Los Angeles, Downey, and South Pasadena. Cases range from 5 hrs/wk, up to 35 hrs/wk.


PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for preventing and intervening in the client’s challenging behavior.
• Required to learn specialized behavior approaches. Specialists will develop behavioral competency by attending mandatory trainings, staff meetings, and completing reading assignments.
• Responsible for implementing the interventions and skill building techniques outlined by the case supervisor.
• Responsible for collaborating with the client’s parent, teacher, and other allied specialists.
• Required to maintain daily logs of client’s progress.
• Responsible for modifying academic, social, play, and/or self-help tasks to a level that is developmentally appropriate for the client.
• Required to travel to and from the client’s school and/or home.

REQUIREMENTS
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must be familiar with Applied Behavior Analysis methodologies and practices. No training is provided. Applicants with a bachelor’s degree and/or two years experience working with children having developmental disabilities or autism will be given priority. Prior experience providing Discrete Trial Training or Floor Time is preferred. An excellent attendance record with previous employers is a requirement.
