Assistant Vice Chancellor for Public Affairs
The Connecticut State University System (CSUS) consists of four universities and a system office. The four universities, Central, Eastern, Southern, and Western Connecticut State University are located in New Britain, Willimantic, New Haven, and Danbury respectively. These universities offer a wide variety of undergraduate and postgraduate degrees and learning programs serving 35,000 students with a faculty of several thousand. This position is located in Hartford and reports directly to the Chancellor.The Assistant Vice Chancellor's principal role is to create a positive awareness of CSUS within the general public as well as within specificconstituencies through a variety of communications, promotional events, and advertising as well as through personal contacts with key community leaders and influential people within and outside of Connecticut. The incumbent functions as an advisor to the Chancellor on public and media communication matters, assists in the development of important System communication and press releases, serves as a resource to the Board of Trustees and the Presidents and senior officers of universities on public affairs issues. Working closely with senior leadership of the System and the universities, the incumbent will develop, implement, and maintain acomprehensive and multi-faceted communication and marketing plan that enhances the image of CSUS and the universities. The Assistant Vice Chancellor will be expected to identify public relations and marketing opportunities to further the public's recognition of CSUS as a highereducation leader. The incumbent will compose and prepare speeches,presentations, and other written material for the Chancellor, Board of Trustees, presidents and others. The incumbent will compose, prepare, and oversee the production of System publications, CSUS website, and other communication instruments to support the System's communication and marketing strategies. As the principal media contact, the Assistant Vice Chancellor is expected to cultivate and establish sound relationships with media organizations and their news staffs throughout Connecticut and beyond.Salary from $101,690 commensurate with background and experience and includes a comprehensive benefits package.

REQUIREMENTS
The successful candidate must possess a Bachelor's degree - Master's degree is preferred - in journalism, public relations, marketing, or a related field with at least seven years of experience in journalism, public relations, marketing or a related field. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to develop strategic programs for effective communications and public relations, write and edit effective and appropriate publications and other communications pieces for public audiences, and develop and maintain effective relationships with media organizations.
