Assessment Specialist I

Basic Functions and Responsibilities: **Exempt**Develops tests in field of mathematics. Writes, reviews, and revises test questions. Assembles tests or pools of questions to meet specifications. Works independently and as part of a team; may also work with outside experts in field of specialty.Writes and reviews items, gathers and resolves feedback from multiple sources on items; evaluates item acceptability after testing.Participates in constructed-response scoring activities, including work with faculty consultants or state department staff.Recruits, trains, mentors, and manages outside item writers; helps develop item writer training materials; assists with facilitation of item writer training meetings.Assists in design and development of new assessments and innovative products and services; assists in development of blueprints.Assembles pretests, tests, and/or draft CAT pools; reviews tests and participates in CAT simulation activities; assists in the preparation of Special Test Editions.Responds to SIRs and candidate inquiries, investigates possible copyright violations, and may review and make recommendations for security cases.Assists client committees, to include organizing meetings, recommending committee members, and explaining and summarizing analysis results.Reviews and revises program publications and interpretive test preparation materials; participates in teacher training activities.Assists with reliability, validity or comparability studies.Applies knowledge of item statistics to evaluation of items and assembly of tests.Assists with test development activities as a member of one or more program teams, possibly as a member of a test creation team.May serve on committees at the junior level.Assists in project direction; helps implements item development plans; works on special development projects.Apply Info: Internal:Please send cover letter and resume to [Click here for email]. REQUIREMENTS
Education: Master's Degree in mathematics or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.Experience: Three years of increasingly responsible professional experience, including experience in educational measurement, applied statistics, teaching, or editing.Comprehensive knowledge of field of specialty in order to develop test in subject area and to serve as resource person for peers, committees, and clients.
