About Us:
Platform Learning provides comprehensive supplemental educational services through our Learn-to-SucceedSM tutoring program to students attending public schools that are "in need of improvement." We work together with parents, schools, community organizations, and local educators to implement our research-based program, which ensures that all children can become successful students by providing appropriate support, motivation and curriculum tailored to their individual needs.

Area Manager

The job -
The Area Manager is responsible for securing after-school and/or weekend program sites, overseeing student registration, staff recruitment and managing a team of Program Specialists and/or Program Managers to implement high quality tutorial programs in a specific area within a region or school district. Typically, an Area Manager supervises 3-5 part-time Program Specialists (and/or full-time Program Managers) who manage 5 - 7 program sites serving approximately 500-600 students.

Job Description:
Identifying and securing facilities for operating after-school and/or weekend tutorial programs.
Negotiating and securing school approval for program site plans.
Managing and owning school relationships particularly with the principal and other school administrators.
Conducting outreach and developing partnerships with local public schools, civic organizations, and faith-based organizations.
Recruiting and supervising 3-5 Program Specialists to manage program sites, 5-10 Program Aides to provide logistics support, 50-70 Instructors to instruct students and several dozen security guards to provide program safety support.
Managing the enrollment of approximately 700 eligible students per cycle.
Ensuring that all programs comply with the terms of Platform Learning's contracts and that all paperwork related to payroll, assessment, attendance, student reports and student rewards are properly completed in a timely fashion.
Ensuring high quality services are delivered to students and parents.
Responding to and resolving concerns of students, parents, instructors and school administrators.
Other duties as deemed necessary by the Regional Director and/or Vice President.

REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications –
Excellent leadership skills; capacity to manage and motivate employees.
Superior ability to anticipate, identify and resolve problems in a timely and effective manner.
Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and diverse cultures.
Strong ability to build morale and group commitments to goals and objectives.
Ability to work independently and effectively engage a diverse group of clients, community partners, and co-workers.
Superior multi-tasking skills and ability to meet deadlines.
Dedication and clear support of the mission/goals/objectives of Platform Learning, Inc.
Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree (preferred).
Significant experience in K-12 education and/or relevant work experience in the field.
Marketing, PR, business development, project management, crisis management and other practical business experience.
Professional experience working in underserved communities or equivalent combination of education and experience desired.
Proficient with MS OfficeXP (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Internet Explorer.

Area Managers will work in a variety of settings including, regional and/or corporate offices, home office, and schools serving low-income students in urban communities.
