POSITION SUMMARY:
The Adult Education Manager is accountable for the design, development, and delivery of adult education and continuing education to meet the needs of volunteers at all levels of the organization, for the recruitment, training and supervision of volunteer trainers; and for developing and revising training materials consistent with youth development practices and the organizational policies.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Develops and implements adult education strategies to assure that the council has trained qualified adult volunteers in all operational positions.

2. Develops schedules and implements a year-round training and continuing education program to meet the needs identified for all adult operational volunteers and assigned policy making volunteers.

3. Recruits, trains and supervises trainers for all skill areas. Arranges for qualified trainers to become GSUSA certified trainers.

4. Coordinates the work of the adult education function with the work of membership, youth development and other departments.

5. Develops and administers integrated objectives, action steps, and budgets for adult education functions and others as assigned.

6. Keeps current with educational trends and adheres to GSUSA educational guidelines for training adults.

7. Ensures continuing education for volunteers beyond position specific council trainings.

8. Ensure contributions to the council’s annual revenue through fund development efforts

9. Secure grant funding when possible

10. Secure in-kind contributions when possible

11. Assist and participate in Council’s fund development efforts.
REQUIREMENTS
Skills and qualifications
•Bachelor’s Degree and/or equivalent experience in youth organization
•Supervisory experience of volunteers and employed staff; proven ability to develop a working team
•Promote a strong image of Girl Scouting as a leader in community collaboration, contemporary program, volunteerism and outreach
•Ability to network with and develop effective relationships with key community leaders and groups who will lend support to related job function
•The ability to analyze and interpret data to develop strategies meeting the needs of the council and the community
•Strong oral and written skills
•Excellent interpersonal skills, including maturity of judgment, communication skills and willingness and ability to work in partnership with others
•Establish clear, open-minded, trustworthy, bias-free and customer focused communications to ensure a welcoming and inclusive environment for a diverse constituency
•Willingness to work a flexible schedule and travel within the council, as required
•Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and manage time effectively
•Subscribe to the philosophy of local and national Girl Scout principles
