Academic Site Coordinator

EDUCATION Academic Site Coordinators Project GEAR-UP (1) For Roosevelt HS (1) For Garfield HS The Academic Site Coordinator will work closely with High School students and high school Tutors to encourage positive values relating to academic achievement and college awareness. Under the direction of the Program Services Coordinator, the Academic Site Coordinator will hire and train all In-Class & After School Tutors. The Academic Site Coordinator will schedule, observe and provide professional development to In-Class & After School Tutors. The Academic Site Coordinator will coordinate all programming events such as field trips, workshops, and club meetings. Incumbents will be developed in their professional role to service participants through the direct supervision of the Program Services Coordinator.
•Coordinate efforts of all academic and advisement efforts at school site.•Plan large-scale college field trips and college prep workshops.
•Coordinate hiring and training of Academic Advisors and In-Class & After School Tutors.
•Coordinate program and school communication through calendars, meetings, newsletters, reports, etc.
•Responsible for data collection and data-driven decision making based on frequent evaluations.
•Oversee the maintenance of program records
•Attend pertinent school and GEAR UP program meetings
•Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Skills and Knowledge:
Proficient in Microsoft Office. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Excellent written and verbal communication in Spanish a plus. Carry self in a professional and ethical manner and is a positive role model and mentor for participants and parents. Able to work well under pressure. Spanish is a plus.Other Requirements:
Candidate must be available to work during times when programming may take place: some evenings and weekends required. At ease with high school students and believe in the students’ potential for leadership; promote a supportive, positive and inclusive environment; must be punctual, dependable, a self starter and responsive to supervision.
