Job Description The GEO Group, Inc. (GEO) is a world leader in the delivery of correctional and detention management, medical and mental health rehabilitation services and other diversified services to federal, state and local government agencies around the globe. We currently have an Academic Instructor position available at our Florida Civil Commitment Center in Arcadia, FL.

The Academic Instructor maintains a classroom environment that facilitates the teaching of Adult Basic Education and basic subject required to pass the GED or equivalent examination; teaches one or more subjects including, but not limited to reading, mathematics, and language arts; provides classroom instruction in the areas of basic education subjects including career planning, social adjustment, and general life/skills knowledge; maintains records including testing, daily resident work, attendance and general record keeping; evaluates and maintains resident academic progress; provides individual tutoringJob RequirementsThe successful candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university. Two years of relevant reaching experience preferred. A valid teaching certificate from the State Department of Education or comparable authority required. Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen.
