A+ After School Program Group Leaders

ESSENTIAL DUTIES /FUNCTIONS:

Program Development:
a. Understand and be in accord with the YMCA philosophy, goals and objectives.
b.Be consistent in following program policies and standards operating procedures.
c.Ensure the safety, health and welfare of children assigned as well as all other children in the program.
d.Relate to the children with respect and understanding and realize you are an adult role model for them.
e.Be sensitive to each child’s needs and provide guidance toward positive human development.
f.Relate positively to parents, school personnel and others associated with the program.
g.Work toward a team spirit and effort among the staff and children.
h.Supervise and develop leadership potential with assigned volunteers.
i.Instruct children in a variety of activities with enthusiasm and creativity.
j.Be on time for work and meetings.
k.Attend all general and site staff meetings and training sessions and give input. Be open to criticism, suggestions and training from other staff.
l.Prepare and submit lesson plans on time as requested by the director.
m.Take initiative to research and develop new creative activities to enhance overall program.
n.Assume responsibility for all facilities, equipment and supplies of the site.
REQUIREMENTS
Skills/Knowledge:

.Requires understanding of child development, group management, group work, program and communications.
.Must be people oriented.

Education/Training:

.TB test required
.CPR/First Aid Certification
