Warehouse Assistant Manager
MacPherson’s, the leading nationwide wholesale distributor of fine art materials, has an immediate opening for a Warehouse Assistant Manager in our Reno, Nevada Distribution Center. This 100,000 square foot facility services 1000 plus customers in the Western United States. Our inventory consists of over 25,000 items used by professional, student and amateur artists including paints, canvas, pencils, pens, drafting supplies, pastels, paper, books, clay, etc.
This Distribution Center uses an automated warehouse management system using bar code scanning devices. Successful applicants should possess knowledge of data processing procedures and computer applications. Direct experience with computer based warehouse management systems is a plus, but not required.
Experience in general shipping procedures is required, plus additional experience in managing one or more of the following warehouse areas: Picking, Receiving, Inventory Control, Facility Maintenance, General Safety, or Forklift Safety and Training. The ability to analyze material flow processes and implement improvements is required. The successful candidate will be flexible and have the desire and drive to constantly improve the productivity of the work force.
Applicants for this position must show a strong ability to motivate and manage staff, possess good verbal and written communication skills and be a strong team leader. The Warehouse Assistant Manager, in cooperation with the Distribution Center Operations Manager, will directly supervise a minimum of four floor supervisors and a total work force of 55 to 60 employees.
Minimum Competencies required for this position include:
•Strong desire to motivate work force to improve productivity
•Manage multiple priorities
•Constructively deal with non-performing employees
•Experience in managing in a SKU intensive wholesale distribution environment
•Ability to analyze processes for efficiency, evaluation and improvement
•Ability to develop new and creative solutions and programs to address everyday challenges within the warehouse
•Ability to interface with other company departments to provide necessary support for consistent customer service and high order accuracy rates
•Ability to control costs and expenses
•Experience in general shipping procedures
