POSITION PURPOSE

Transportation Coordinator Associates are responsible for scheduling inbound & outbound activities in the Distribution Center. Individuals in this position must work cooperatively with other Associates, vendors, carriers, and productively with little supervision. Following Home Depot safety policies and procedures is of great importance to this position.


MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES & KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES


Follow Home Depot safety policies and procedures and encourages other Associates to do the same

Works cooperatively and productively with Department Heads and other Associates in order to complete tasks

Works productively (i.e., dock assigning, following up with carriers, communicating to the stores, etc.) with little supervision

Provides and inspires outstanding service to customers (i.e., stores, etc.) by maintaining attention to detail
and completing assigned work in a timely manner

Maintains condition of Distribution center work area (i.e., free of trash, product in correct location, etc.)

Accurately enter receiving and shipping information into the facility’s computer system

Add, subtract, and calculate quantities of merchandise using a ten-key adding machine

Produce and check the accuracy of a variety of reports and spreadsheets using a computer
Identify and read vendor packing slips, carrier shipping documents, UPC labels, and Company receiving
documents

Troubleshoot shipping and receiving problems as they arise

Prioritize tasks in order of importance while handling interruptions due to telephone calls, public address
announcements, and requests for information

Answer telephones in a timely and professional manner

Responsible for handling all day to day traffic calls from THD store, Vendors and other departments pertaining to traffic related issues

Responsible for tracking and tracing of outbound freight to stores

Locate various types of transportation services, (i.e., LTL, truck load)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


Must be eighteen years of age or older

Must pass the Drug Test

Must pass the Background Check

Must pass pre-employment tests if applicable

Education Required - The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diplomas and/or GED

Certificates/Licenses - Physical Job Requirements - Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles. Examples include executive assistant, bank loan officer, and acctg clerk
