Supervisor-Tool Control

Kohler Co., a world-class manufacturer based in Kohler WI, is seeking to add to the team a highly qualified Supvr-Tool Control to support the Engine Business.BASIC FUNCTION
Responsible for supervising machine shop support departments. This includes special machining and repair, tool grinding, operating supply ordering and receiving, tool crib operations, and welding. Supervises Tooling Analyst and leads cost reduction activities for operating supplies. Analyzes tool usage and performs assignments that require a high degree of technical skill in the areas of problem solving, statistical analysis, and organization.SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise hourly employees on all 3 shifts. Understand union contract issues as they apply to your employees.Manage operating supply budgets for Engine Plant.Apply KOS problem solving tools to daily operational issues.Understand and manage equipment in special machining and tool grinding areas and replace or upgrade as required.Develop suppliers to provide strategic value to engine plant processes.Provide service with support departments as required to maintain engine production.Manage and control inventory levels of perishable tooling and other operating supplies.Identify and implement cost reductions to continue to add value to our customers.Coordinate "Best Practices" between all Kohler engine plants as related to the application of cutting tools and operating supplies.Personally demonstrate and drive the Kohler Core Competencies throughout the organization.RELATIONSHIPS AND CONTACTS
Supervisory Relationships:
Reports to Director Manufacturing Engineering
Supervises (15) union and (1) exempt associate.
Organization Relationships:
Frequent contact with business unit team leaders on operating supply budgets.
Frequent contact with maintenance supervision on repair projects.
Frequent contact with process engineers on cost reductions, new equipment projects, and new engine programs.
Frequent contact with Corporate Purchasing on supply contracts.
Occasional contact with Kohler Engine Plant in Mississippi.
External Business Relationships:
Frequent contact with tooling suppliers and representatives to discuss projects and negotiate contacts.
Occasional contact with suppliers to verify their manufacturing process produces raw material and finished components compatible with the Engine Division's processes and equipment.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelors Degree or Technical Associate Degree.Three years in manufacturing supervision with the following experience:Proficient knowledge of the SAP system that is applicable to managing tooling and operating supply inventories.
Managing cutting tools/operating supplies, cost reductions and developing operating supply budgets.
Estimating and planning machining work.
Managing tool room/tool grinding departments.
