Supervisor - Ferro Alloy Warehouse

This position reports directly to Terminal Manager
This facility is a river barge and materials handling warehouse
Primary products are bulk and packaged ferroalloys, raw materials for the steel industry
Responsible for planning, directing and organizing the activities of union laborers and equipment operators.
Responsible for understanding, adhering to, and communicating both company and faclity goals, policies and procedures in a team environment.
Responsible for the efficient operation of yard activities and related offsite facilities in meeting safety, quality and operational goals.
Supervising operations pertaining to the loading and offloading of barges, railcars and trucks using heavy equipment
May be required to assume Terminal Manager's duties when necessary
REQUIREMENTS
Daily safety briefing with employees
Warehousing and inventory controls
Working with office personnel to ensure material releases and shipments are correct
Compiling and reviewing time cards with employees
Ensure operations are performed in accordance with approved procedures, bargaining agreement and company policy
Determine and maintain record of required facility maintenance
Daily interaction with Production Planning Manager and Supervisor of Maintenance
Ensure the general good order and cleanliness of yard facilities and throughways
Determine and maintain record of required facility maintenance
Daily interaction with Terminal Manager and Customer Service representatives
Daily interaction with Maintenance Department
Customer contact when required
Planning and scheduling of daily operations, including contingency plans when necessary
Managerial and personnel duties, including verification of time cards, absenteeism records, shift staffing, cross training, training of new hires and recording daily policy / quality audits
Vendor contact where required
Responsible for interacting effectively and respectfully with all facility personnel and customers.
Upon completion fo training, will be expected to maintain a thorough knowledge of all products handled and facility / yard personnel capabilities.
Ability to take direction / supervision and work cooperatively with others
Other duties as assigned
B.S. degree and minimum 3 years prior supervisory experience
Additional experience may substitute for B.S.

Must have Warehouse or river barge terminal experience
First Aid / CPR certified
Crane and rigging training
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers

Must be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and database applications
Must have demonstrated leadership, analytical, strong communication (oral and written), and excellent organizational skills.

May require shift rotation and occasional weekends and holidays.
Duties are performed both in office and outdoors with occasional travel for company-sponsored training
Must be able to lift or carry up to 50# and be able to remain on feet as necessary throughout working hours
Mandatory drug and alcohol svcreening in addtion to passing a background check will be required upon hiring

Will be immediate supervisor to yard employees
