This position is responsible to assure that qualified production materials suppliers are effectively serving the site commercial and, if applicable, clinical site requirements. This role will manage performance measurement of assigned suppliers and related supplier improvement initiatives, manage and coordinate material supply for new process introductions and supplier change events, contribute to risk assessments and site mitigation projects, and represent site requirements to GSS and Systems initiatives (e.g. SMS). May also source local requirements not covered by existing contracts or active Operating Unit sourcing efforts.
Manage supplier performance for specific commodities, ensuring continuous supply of quality materials to the site. Work closely with Sr. Materials Planner to ensure accurate and timely forecasting to suppliers. Work closely with Supply Chain/Supply Base Specialist to evaluate suppliers' delivery performance and responsiveness, adjusting forecasts as required. Identify and establish appropriate corrective actions and process improvements. Working with PPU and Technology personnel, identify opportunities for improving supplier performance and for increasing value added benefits and services provided by key suppliers.
Manage supplier changes for specific commodities; ensure changes do not adversely impact manufacturing through coordination/management of change control activities and/or developing an inventory strategy that provides appropriate inventory levels to allow for change approval. Track and trend supplier changes to identify impact to continuous supply and implementation costs incurred at site.
Contribute to Operating Unit production material vulnerability assessments and identify materials with potential risk to the supply chain. Contribute to appropriate mitigation plans, which may involve leading site-based efforts or providing meaningful contributions to cross-site risk mitigation teams. Mitigations include secondary sourcing and qualification, identification and sourcing of replacement/alternate materials, inventory strategies
Identify requirements for new sources of supply, or new materials from current supplier base, to support Technical Transfer of new products/projects into the site (commercial site and, if applicable, clinical)
Review and approve all specifications for materials within a commodity, ensuring proper communication to suppliers of changes. Ensure suppliers can consistently provide material that meets Site specification requirements.
Support Conformance Standard initiatives that impact Supply Chain systems and programs: raw materials, sourcing, supplier management and qualification, specifications. Ensure programs are evaluated and implemented in a manner that will not adversely impact the raw material programs at the site. Manage supplier related investigations to ensure timely closure and no impact to drug substance or product disposition cycle times. Review supplier corrective actions ensuring identification of root cause and implementation of appropriate corrective actions and system controls.
Write, review and revise procedures to be in accordance with current practices and regulations. Streamline procedures for compliance and opportunity for improvements.
Assist in efforts related to business system change controls/validations/upgrades and related projects (ie. SMS).
Requirements:
BA/BS degree in Business or related field with 6 years relevant experience or MS/MA + 4-5 years or MBA + 4 years relevant experience.
Experience in Supplier Management, Purchasing or Materials Management department in a cGMP or ISO certified environment. Must have a thorough knowledge of supplier management and supplier qualification programs and techniques. Must be a self-motivated individual with a demonstrated record of delivering results, strong communication and presentation skills and the ability to develop strong working relationships in cross function teams with an established commitment to providing consistently high levels of customer service.
