MeadWestvaco Consumer Solutions Group is currently seeking a Senior Packaging Engineer in the Smyrna, Georgia area.
Summary:
To understand and meet the MeadWestvaco Consumer Solution Group customer packaging , using innovative, economical and timely packaging design solutions. The ability to anticipate and understand these packaging needs are critical to helping maintain the MeadWestvaco leadership role in the global packaging theater. In order to accomplish this, Senior Package Designers must coordinate and correspond with various internal (such as manufacturing, engineering, sales, marketing, support managers, etc.) and external representatives.
Specific Job Duties:
o Develop new package designs for specific customer needs.
o Adapt/modify existing package designs for specific customers.
o Evaluate secondary packaging machinery and distribution environments, working closely with MeadWestvaco engineering team.
o Work closely with converting machinery and manufacturing to maintain most economical packaging for MeadWestvaco's customers.
o Function as industry expert to assist sales, marketing, legal.
o Manage/maintain files, experimental orders, invention records.
o Create new innovative package designs to maintain MeadWestvaco Proprietary Market Advantage.
o Package improvements/modifications that provide cost savings, manufacturing efficiency, improve functionality, etc.
o Maintain knowledge base of secondary packaging machinery limitations and capabilities.
o Maintain knowledge base of MeadWestvaco and Sub Contractor converting limitations and capabilities.
o Research and maintain knowledge base of packaging industry (including competitors' capabilities, customer's line requirements, distribution environments, etc.)
o Maintain files for Package Development Specifications, experimental orders, production dies.
o Provide customer satisfaction through timely, accurate, professional interaction.
o Participate in team brainstorming activities for innovative packaging ideas.
Job Requirements:
o Four year degree in Packaging Engineering or 5 -10 years experience in Package Design with emphasis on machine systems business
o Good knowledge of secondary packaging machine systems and converting machine processes
o Ability to perceive spatial relations
o Reading, writing mathematical skills
o Communication/presentation skills (ability to act as a professional representative of MeadWestvaco)
o CAD/CAM literacy/proficiency
o Good problem solving and decision making skills
