Opportunity Overview:
Lead mechanical design for an advanced packaging group working in new packaging technologies including hermetic micro-cavity silicon packages, MEMS, microelectronics, optoelectronic sub mount design, micromachining, silicon optical bench, and RF / mm wave packagingDescription Details:
?Create and interpret drawings; maintain and control revisions to drawing documents using one or more CAD packages such as SolidWorks, ProE, Autocad, etc?Design, test, interpret results, and perform failure analysis (FA) to improve capability?Design devices considering mechanical, electrical, and optical constraints?Provide materials selection and analysis for solders and adhesives?Provide manufacturing with engineering support with tooling and fixturing used to fabricate precision optical assemblies
?Review product drawings for manufacturability and effects of dimensional tolerancing on the function of the assembly; lead product and tooling design reviews
?Work in a team environment with product, manufacturing, and production engineers & technicians
?Contribute to identifying and developing process improvements and cost reductions
REQUIREMENTS
Position Requirements:?Education: minimum BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related?Experience: Minimum 7 years in a similar industry
?Status: candidate must be a US citizen or permanent resident
Desired Competencies/Experience Preferences: ?Mastery of one or more CAD packages such as SolidWorks, ProE, Autocad, etc?Experience with basic mechanical stress and thermal analysis and model building using Ansys or other FEA packages?Knowledge of test requirements for reliability of electronic and optoelectronic components desired (Mil spec, Telcordia, etc)
?Some experience with fab processing for micromachining, mask design and drawing using L-edit or Autocad desiredLocation:?Rohm and Haas Electronic Materials, Blacksburg, VA
?The Rohm and Haas Blacksburg, VA site is located near the Washington-Jefferson National Forest, and which affords many types of out-of-doors recreation. Blacksburg has a culturally diverse population of 40,000 and is the home of Virginia Tech, the town’s largest employer. The site is involved in advanced wafer-level packaging of electronic and optoelectronic devices through microfabrication.
