Sr. Mechanical Design/Packaging Engineer

Overview: Exciting opportunity for motivated, hands-on self starter who can lead the effort to develop a commercial package; developing this packaging requires concept work, prototype assembly and fixturing, and defining new processes. The work environment is a small, entrepreneurial technology company with Fortune 500 business relationships.


Responsibilities:

Hands-on engineering development of packaging for chemistry cells, develop concepts for plastic/metal packaging of cell and battery for different applications (cell phone, notebook computer, military), utilize different sealing/joining methods including ultrasonic welding, hot plate welding, and adhesives/solvents, analyze design tolerance stack-ups, coordinate tooling/fixturing during development stage, work with outside suppliers for rapid prototypes, develop processes for new designs, interact with manufacturing partner to implement designs in high volume production.





Requirements:

Associate Mechanical Technology/BSME or higher, minimum 5 years experience, hands-on packaging work experience, entrepreneurial attitude, exposure to high volume manufacturing, experience with military standards a plus, experience with SolidWorks a plus (not required).
