Safety Specialist

The Columbia Division is seeking an experienced Safety Specialist. This position will be responsible for managing the safety program for the division, including 4 drop sites. Job duties include:

Oversee state and federal requirement compliance (OSHA, DOT, etc) for HACCP;
Maintains OSHA 300 log record keeping for all departments;
Assists with all Workers Compensation cases and auto liability claims, and attends court hearings as needed;
Ensures OSHA and EPA compliance for Process Safety Management. Includes conducting Emergency Action drill and maintain all PSM records;
Maintain chemical inventories, MSDS sheets, and the OSHA Right To Know program concerning Hazardous Materials;
Conduct training sessions for employees and supervisors as required by OSHA standards. (HazCom, Lock-Out Tag-Out, Forklift, Hearing Conservation, Fire Protection, etc.);
Perform monthly warehouse Safety Inspections as required by ASI and corporate;
Review and keep current written programs for the specific standards that require them. (Forklift, lock-out tag-out, fall protection, respirators, blood-borne pathogens, footwear.);
Provide new employee Safety Orientation and ensure proper paperwork and training is completed;
Facilitate a division safety committee and an accident review panel, for the purpose of identifying and correcting the cause of accidents. Carry out needed measures to prevent accidents;
Maintains HACCP, GMP recordkeeping for all departments;
Assists in Accident Investigation.
REQUIREMENTS
College degree preferred with a minimum of 2 years experience in a safety related warehouse environment required. Specialized knowledge with OSHA & DOT, EPA< HACCP regulations helpful. Intermediate computer skills to include Word and Excel, public speaking, and good communication skills. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights and some weekend.
