Production Supervisor - Packaging

This position manages the daily production processes and personnel in the conversion of tobacco from a processed state to a finished product state in a safe, high quality and efficient manner, meeting all customer requirements (internal and external). Union environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
-Direct daily department activities in order to meet production goals.
-Insure all packaged product meets quality standards as set by R&D.
-Insure production efficiencies are obtained on each machine per budget.
-Insure the proper amounts of cases are made daily to meet scheduled production.
-Review and establish material, equipment and manpower source requirements.
-Coordinate production activities with other functional groups, such as planning and distribution.
-Responsible for the maintenance of manufacturing equipment, ensuring both preventive maintenance programs and repairs.
-Select and develop personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the production function.
-Administer safety programs in order to provide a safe and clean workplace for employees.
-Generate productivity reports and other operations metrics.
-Treat/manage all employees in a fair and consistent manner. Value diversity and manage according to union contract.
-Interact with all departments as a team planer and keep open communication so operations flow smoothly throughout the plant.
REQUIREMENTS
-High school diploma; technical school a plus.
-Requires demonstrated leadership skills and a minimum of 3 years of operations or related experience.
-Mechanical and electrical skills.
-Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
-Analytical, conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
-Ability to maintain confidential information.
-Ability to lift and carry up to 36 pounds.
-Ability to stand and/or walk 80% of the time; ability to climb, stoop, and/or crouch.
-Computer literate and knowledge of Windows, Word and Excel.
