Production Coordinator - Agricultural

PacFresh is a well established Grower/Shipper/Harvester of vegetables located in Santa Maria, California.

The Production Coordinator plays a key role in evaluating the quantity and quality of crops and establishing a strategy for harvesting and marketing of crops to maximize returns. This position reports to the General Manager.

Responsibilities Include:


Inspect and evaluate crops to assess product that will be available to harvest and market. Accurately forecast product quality, condition, size, yield, and timing.


Prepare weekly forecasts of estimated production levels.


Identify variables that effect the harvesting, production and marketing of crops. Maintain awareness of logistical harvest restraints (including limits on labor and time), sales needs, market conditions and pre-established contractual sale agreements.


Assess the potential of every field. Evaluate options for each field’s production and for how product will be packed (style of pack).


Establish a strategic harvest plan and set into action.


Communicate and coordinate with sales/marketing, harvesting and growers regarding strategic harvest plans for each field as harvest nears to maximize the marketability of the crop.


Calculate and analyze crop yields and returns for available crops.


Interface with harvest operations to schedule harvesting in accordance with established plan.


Monitor quality control. Ensure harvest jobs meet sales and customer product specifications and requirements.


Cultivate and maintain relationships with growers and sales companies. Adapt communications style to interface with a variety of entities and personalities.

REQUIREMENTS


The qualified candidate should possess the following:Excellent communication skills.

Agricultural background or experience.

Be a team player who’s able to achieve company goals and objectives with minimal supervision.

Strong analytical ability.

Proficient in math.

Good organizational abilities.

Class C driver’s license with good driving record.

Passion for agriculture.

People person.

Determination and assertiveness.

Adaptability.
