Power Distribution Electrician

Company: North America Mining Job Function: Skilled Trades Job Description: Major Responsibilities: This position requires a Team oriented person who will be responsible for the safe completion of routine and non-routine repairs, as well as, performing construction and maintenance of high or low voltage electric power lines and structures, troubleshoot system faults at substations and on power lines. Perform all work using the proper safe methods of linework. Position requires driving over state highways. Willing and able to work weekends, holidays, rotating shifts and both scheduled and unscheduled overtime at a 24 hour/day, 7 day/week, 365 day/year operation. Other duties as may be assigned.

- Completion of an approved Line Electrician Apprenticeship program or minimum of four years experience as a distribution line electrician.

Experience with electrical test equipment

Have pole-climbing gear in good order and be adept at climbing wood poles and steel towers or structures.

Ability to read, understand and apply information from technical manuals, prints, and schematics for trouble shooting and repair.

High school diploma or GED

Valid State Drivers License

CDL (or ability to obtain one within six months of hire)

Ability to work in a team with a high regard for safety & environmental concerns

Effective written, verbal, and communication skills to satisfy training, safety, and electronic message transmission policies of the company.

Satisfactory performance record (internal applicant)

Ability to read, understand and apply information from technical manuals, prints, and schematics for trouble shooting and repair.

Work is performed in a mine or manufacturing plant which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear and see.

Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy to heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) during the course of the workday.~cb2~
