Packaging Engineer (Design)

Fortune 500 Food/Beverage company located in the Florida Area is currently looking for a Packaging Engineer (Packaging Design)

LOCATED - Florida
SALARY - 65-75K
RELOCATION - Eligible

•BA/BS in material or packaging science or equivalent work experience
•5+ years minimum experience
•good working knowledge of ANSI, ISO, CETIE and other standards required
•good working knowledge of design of experiments required
•excellent organizational, follow up, oral and written communication skills required
•ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and to deal with a stressful, fast-paced, rapidly changing environment required
•ability to professionally and effectively deal with all levels of the organization, manufacturers, vendors and other agencies required
•ability to use personal computer, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Word, Excel, Lotus Notes and AutoCAD required
•general knowledge of principles of mathematics, physics, chemistry, metallurgy, fluid mechanics, machine design, thermodynamics, and strength of materials desired
•general knowledge of federal, state and global regulations for the use of certain packaging materials desired

The position will be responsible for:

•Working with suppliers studying key physical, chemical, and mechanical properties of packaging materials to be kept in Global Material Database for future reference, such as metals, glass, paper, PET, fiberboard, corrugate, and inks.
•Serving as contact for global, regional and local procurement and quality assurance, maintaining and releasing all packaging material specifications.
•Interacting with multiple suppliers in the identification of key variables to be quickly addressed within their material configuration when technical or quality assurance issues arise.
•Developing global best practices for testing and identifying packaging materials used in worldwide.
•Preparing technical reports, feasibility studies, charts and graphs
•Reading and interpreting basic and complex blueprints
•Updating the specifications database
•Traveling both regionally and internationallyMust have Designed Consumer Products Packaging with experience preferably in Metals, PET, or Paperboard or all the above.
