Packaging Design Engineer

SCA, a global consumer goods and paper company that develops, produces and markets personal care products, tissue, packaging solutions, publication papers and solid-wood product is seeking an Packaging Design Engineeer in our Hayward, CA Tech Center.

Role Overview:·Monitors work flow, sets priorities & serves as technical resource for assigned projects for designers and account managers.
·Provide customer support, directly & with account managers including reviewing all project requests, suggesting designs/materials.
·Designs custom packaging and material handling products for customers.·Works closely with manufacturing to ensure that designs can be manufactured.
·Creates prototype drawing specifications using CAD for customer approval, external testing and tooling requirements.
·Constructs prototype designs for customer review and approval.
·Writes and maintains accurate, up-to-date files for all product specifications.
·Sources vendors for the purchase of materials.
·Calculates costs for manufacturing designs.
·Obtains quotes and pricing on certain jobs and required tooling.
REQUIREMENTS
Requirements:·BS degree in packaging engineering or equivalent experience plus 3-5 years of experience in design/manufacturing, required
·Working knowledge of molded foams, polyethylene and polyurethane foams, corrugated, plastic corrugated and woods
·Proficient in the use of CAD computer application programs
·Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills
