Mentor Coordinator Forward Service
Mentor Coordinator Forward Service Corporation is seeking a full-time Mentor Coordinator to work in the Adams, Marquette, and Waushara counties to develop and implement a recently won mentoring grant targeting 4th - 8th grade at-risk children. Working under the direction of the DOE Grants Director, the Coordinator is responsible for 50-75 matches between youth children and adult volunteers. They will also develop and chair a community advisory committee and tutor academically needy children. As the key staff person for the project, the Coordinator is required to gather, evaluate, maintain, and secure data documenting mentoring activities and ensure the program's effectiveness. Requirements include: A BA/BS degree and 2 years experience teaching 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, or 8th grades; must be certified to teach 4 - 8th grades; excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to relate to elementary school students, teachers, counselors, school administration, parents, coworkers and community residents. Must have previous experience providing services to rural, low income and disadvantaged youth; personal characteristics necessary for the emotional, educational, and personal support of the mentees in the program, able to work independently and remotely without direct supervision; an intermediate user of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and preferably File MakerPro, and proficient using the Internet for research and communication. Must be able to assess needs and barriers of youth being served, set goals to overcome them, and have the ability to counsel youth on the career opportunities involved with different education and training paths. Experience with occupational, career, and academic assessments preferred. Occasional travel is required. We offer a competitive salary.
