Material Handler

GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:Responsible for performing the physical or combined administrative/physical tasks involved in the storing, counting and distributing of materials, parts, supplies and equipment. Compiles and maintains records of quantity, cost and type of material stocked and issued, and prepares material requisitions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES TYPICAL FOR MOST POSITIONS:1. Works from requisition, order list or stock list to pull required items.2. Uses a checklist as items are pulled to ensure kit accuracy.3. Accumulates orders, reports shortages and transports completed orders to distribution point or staging area.4. Processes returned items and unscheduled issues.5. Compiles and maintains inventory of material received, stocked, and issued.6. Prepares requests for procurement of material.7. Lifts heavy items and may operate a forklift.8. Examines, stocks and distributes materials in inventory and on manufacturing lines.9. Take inventory of stored items through cycle counting.10. May audit kits for accuracy.
SPECIALIZED JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Completes orders for materials.
Education / ExperienceCompletion of high school, vocational training or equivalent is preferred. Typically requires 4 years of related experience.
Knowledge / Skills / AbilitiesMay require ability to read and apply color-coding and schematics; Cables: component prepping inspect components; operate telephones, data entry equipment, spreadsheet software; MRP system, forklifts, electronic scales, pallet jack, staple gun, cycle counting, kitting.
