Labor and Delivery Tech

Assists the nursing staff as directed within a family centered philosopy and environment.



Prepares for births by scrubing for operative procedures (i.e., c/s, tubaligation, etc.), cleaning, wraping instruments, ensuring adequate functioning of instruments, setting up delivery carts, checking for outdated equipment, sutures, and supplies, etc., transporting equipment for delivery (cart, warmer, light, stools, O2 tank, etc.). Performs basic medical duties such as preparing cords for storage/collection freezer, doing a urine dipstik control test daily, assisting with baby care, such as temperatures, feedings, transports, diaper changes, weights, etc. as requested, performing newborn hearing screenings, acting as transporter/discharger when needed. Performs basic housekeeping such as changing patient linens daily, empties trash and linen, distribute water, juice and linen daily and as needed. Performs basic clerical duties such as maintaining adequate inventory by ordering supplies and stocking items, recording and loging heat and tempurature in O.R. rooms daily, acting as messenger/courier as needed, acting as patient, distributing and collecting newborn picture infomration, distributing gift packs.
REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent. Must have patient care exp. in a hospital setting. Basic reading, writing and language skills. Ability to work quickly under stressful situations. Excellent customer service skills. Strong computer skills.
