Import Specialist

Garden Ridge is currently seeking an Import Specialist for our Houston, Texas corporate office. The Import Specialist must have a complete understanding of overall importing activities and shipment schedules, a thorough knowledge of tariff schedules and Customs regulations and keep abreast of the amendments made in the law and administrative regulations. This position requires the ability to determine proper classifications and dutiable value, and to be fully aware of commodities subject to quotas. The Import Specialist is also responsible for reviewing estimates for landed costs and payments of goods.
REQUIREMENTS
Candidates must have a Customs Broker License, 3-5 years experience in Imports, a Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and /or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred candidates will have a retail background, high sense of urgency, strong organizational skills and be self-directed. Required technical skills include a high level of proficiency with business applications specifically MS Word, and Excel.
