Import/Export Compliance Administrator

Company: REMEC Defense & Space This position will perform as the Export Compliance Specialist supporting all aspects of export activities to ensure compliance with both U.S. Government Regulations, and the Company’s Corporate Policies and Procedures, i.e. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), U.S. Customs Regulations, NAFTA, and other special trade programs. The Export Compliance Specialist will work closely with Empowered Officials, program managers, business development staff and technical staff to analyze and discuss program requirements and to help identify the appropriate export compliance authorization required for the activities, as well as with the U.S. Departments of State, Commerce, Defense, and Homeland Security as well as cognizant company personnel on matters pertaining to export/import activities and issues, including regulatory changes or other developments that may affect U.S. Government approval. Primary responsibilities will be to:

Draft, review, and submit to regulatory authorities export licenses, technical assistance agreements, foreign persons’ licenses and any other license or export authorizations needed to obtain export licensing approvals under ITAR.

Apply and maintain export controls in the ERP Systems & the Engineering Document Control System to ensure compliance and good-faith-efforts with US and Company regulations.

Interface with offshore companies, brokers, freight forwarders, and U.S. Customers to complete and process transportation transactions.

Assess current export/import compliance program including export processes and procedures for thoroughness, efficiency and compliance; recommend alterations/additions as deemed appropriate to fully address ITAR, EAR and NAFTA as well as Commerce licensing requirements

Coordinate with Finance to develop and maintain accounting systems necessary to support export/import activities in accordance with U.S. Government regulations

Provide on-going training to department personnel to ensure compliance with U.S. Government import/export regulationsQualified candidates will possess:
BS in Business Administration or International Affairs or related field, and knowledge typically gained from 6 years of experience in Trade Compliance and generation of export license agreements
Knowledge and experience in U.S. and foreign import/export regulations such as ITAR, EAR, NAFTA
Experience with automated trade compliance software systems
Proven ability to prepare export license agreement to include the assessment and determination of supporting data
Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with and influence individuals throughout the organization and within government agencies
Ability to speak Spanish is preferred, however not required.
Ability to obtain & maintain secret security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
