POSITION PURPOSE
Import Distribution Center (IDC) Managers are responsible for the overall management, planning, organization and execution of day-to-day operations of the entire IDC. IDC Managers must model excellent customer service to the stores and associates and must demonstrate professional, ethical behavior in all aspects of their job. Individuals in this position must recognize problems and demonstrate excellent problem-solving and decision -making abilities and be able to effectively coach and develop associates.
MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Manageinventory level of products inIDC (Import DC), ensuring optomal in-stock levels. Directly mange a small staff of IDC Assistant Managers/Supervisors and indirectly manage up to 350 hourly DC Associates.
Consistantly and proactively strive to achieve 100% fill rate and 100% on time delivery, while controlling operating costs. Manage the number of inbound containers on a weekly and monthly basis. Manage the number of daily outbound loads. Ensure that the IDC has the necessary equipment and supplies to get needed work completed. Manages the IDC P&L. Visit stores to gain better understanding of customer needs. Meet with Associates both in large and small groups, to ensure their jobs can be done accurately, safely and in a timely manner. Walk the DC floor and speak with Associates on all shifts on a daily basis. Selects, develops and motivates assigned staff.

Typically reports to Division Director Logistics.
Direct and indirect reports typically include 3 managers/supervisors and 56 support associates.
Typically requires highly developed interpersonal skills for dealing with sensitive or controversial situations.
Typically faces situations that are unstructured and require original approaches.
Typically solves problems by considering courses of action within the framework of managementÜs goals and standards.
Typically, once given general assignments, determines priorities and defines what should be done and how to do it.
ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Typically located in a comfortable indoor area. There may be regular exposure to dust, fumes, odors, temperature extremes, loud noise, strong drafts, or bright lights.
Under regular pressure to meet deadlines, quotas and/or must frequently deal with difficult issues related to people or situations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be eighteen years of age
Must pass the Drug Test
Must pass the Background Check
Must pass pre-employment tests if applicable
EDUCATION REQUIRED - The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diplomas and/or GED.
YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE - 5
CERTIFICATES/LICENSES -
PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS - Most all of the time is spent sitting in the same position or standing/walking or there is some requirement to lift or handle material or equipment of moderate weight (8-20 pounds).
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS -
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
A Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
7 years of experience in DC Management with 3 + years in the senior DC leadership role is preferred. Retail experience strongly preferred; consumer goods expereince preferred. Strong analytical skills to incorporate logistical, technological and numerical data into the strategy of Distribution Center management. Proven track record of managing employees at all levels within a Distribution Center. Excellent computer skills- MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, etc.), Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), etc. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills. Leadership skills that lead to effectively coaching, developing and mentoring associates.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES
Read, understand, and explain reports- ie P&L, Fill Rate, Freight Costs, etc
Communication skills- Must be able to address and direct subordinates, associates, peers, business partners and upper management ie meetings, presentations, and updates of facility.
Ability to handle multiple tasks at one time. Being able to adjust work load based off of need. Capacity to see the need to change priorities of when and how processes are handled daily.
Able to write/plan budget for DC ie following years, volume, operating costs (Payroll, Occupancy, Operations, and Freight).
