District Manager

Our Circulation Division has a full time District Manager position open. This position is based at our Cold Spring distribution center.
Description: The District Manager’s primary responsibility is to effectively manage an assigned territory by overseeing the distribution of newspapers, increasing distribution volume and providing outstanding service for our customers, as well as supervising delivery of replacement papers to subscribers, managing independent contractors and delivering down routes when necessary.
Duties include:•Recruiting and maintaining carriers for each route;•Review of carrier accounts for accuracy and collecting money on open accounts
•Delivering open routes when there is no carrier
•Delivery replacement papers to customers who are missed
•Achieving delivery service goals
•Communicating with subscribers
•Maintaining route structure to meet service and zoning requirements
REQUIREMENTS
Requirements: Minimum three years previous distribution or management experience preferred. Experience working with independent contractors is a plus. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. The qualified candidate should be able to work under pressure and possess strong problem solving and organizational skills. A dependable vehicle with appropriate insurance and a valid driver license is required.
Hours: The core hours are 2 a.m. to 10 a.m., Monday through Wednesday, 2 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday and 2 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Sunday. However, this individual will be on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The work week includes weekends and the off days will vary from week to week.
