Distribution Engineer

Distribution Engineer Job -> We have an immediate need for a Electric Distribution Engineering position. The person in this position will provide technical expertise to the planning, design, project management, maintenance, operations, and other internal departments, including daily technical support and the formal creation of company standards and work practices. Advise and coach the field distribution engineering staff. Monitor industry trends and apply best practices in order to assure the client's procedures are cost effective and meet applicable codes. Evaluate, test, and implement new apparatus and commodities, in addition to investigating nonconforming material problems. Perform material failure analysis and develop remediation recommendations. Consult on special projects such as wind farm collector system design, submarine cables, maintenance programs, and electric service design for new large customers.Required: BS degree in Engineering or closely related discipline. 10+ years of engineering experience. Working knowledge of overhead and/or underground electric utility distribution systems including design, construction, operation and maintenance practices. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills involving both technical and economic decisions. Intermediate computer skills (MS Office, etc.) This position may be filled at the Engineer level with less than 10 years of experience. This position may be filled as an Engineering Specialist or Sr. Engineering Specialist with 15+ years applicable electric utility experience in lieu of an engineering degree.
