Director of D&T

Division: Sanford Job Description: SANFORD Brands, a division of Newell Rubbermaid, is seeking a seasoned Director of Distribution and Transportation. This key role will be based in Shelbyville, TN but will have overall responsibility for all NA Distribution Centers. The successful candidate will serve as the division’s subject matter expert related to distribution and logistics. This individual will assume responsibility for all logistics operations, including freight cost management, and will work extensively with senior management to set the strategic direction of the logistics operations and ensure alignment of those operations with the overall business strategy.

Job RequirementsThe qualified candidate will have: At least 10 years of success in Manufacturing, Operations and/or Distribution & Logistics Experience in a high volume pick, pack, and ship environment with a significant numbers of SKU’s. A proven track record in improving efficiency, total quality management and implementation of best practices. Strong business acumen and the ability/willingness to be directly involved in driving sales and contributing strongly to the continued growth of the organization. A willingness to frequently travel among facilities in order to understand the business and opportunities. Experience required in hiring, developing, and coaching a staff in a team based operational environment. A high level of analytical/quantitative skills as well as SPC, TQM etc. PC literacy with respect to Microsoft applications; a background using automated Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) is required. Knowledge and/or use of SAP is preferred. Six Sigma training and certification strongly preferred A Bachelors degree (required); MBA is preferred.
